A Life of Faith and Service:
Rita Levie Broussard

Born on January 20, 1922, Rita Levie Broussard entered the world as one of nine children in a close-knit and loving family. From her earliest days, Rita learned the values of faith, sacrifice, and hard work—virtues that would guide her through more than a century of life marked by unwavering service to others.

Rita married Eugene Segura, and together they raised five beautiful children—two boys and three girls. Her life took a difficult turn when she lost her husband while still in her 50s, but rather than give in to grief, she chose to become the hands and feet of Jesus. Her dedication to her family and her faith only deepened, and she poured her heart into raising her children and serving others.

For decades, Rita sewed Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls by hand, and used some of her profits, to help others. The proceeds from her humble creations were used to support her church and provide aid to those in need. Even today, at 103 years old, she continues to give by making rosaries for those who don’t have one, ensuring that her faith is passed on to others.

Rita is our modern-day Mother Teresa. Her words of wisdom, daily prayers, and generous spirit have touched countless lives. She reads her Bible faithfully and watches Mass every day. Despite never having seen a medical doctor in over 65 years, she remains in remarkable health—taking no medication, only vitamins—with only some hearing and vision loss. She still lives alone and independently, a testament to her vitality, strength, and enduring faith.

Her life is a living legacy of gratitude, sacrifice, and service. She inspires everyone who meets her with her tenacity, wisdom, and unwavering devotion to God and others. Rita Levy Broussard is not just a pillar of her family and community—she is a light in our world.
